The Cowboys continue to be a high value fantasy team as Tony Romo and Terrell Owens are definitely high on everyone’s draft board. Marion Barber III is also someone who won’t last long as depending where the Cowboys go in the draft, Barber might be the only back with some credentials now that Julius Jones is a Seahawk. Jason Witten is also a favorite of mine as in many Cowboys games he is the main recipient to all the attention thrown at TO.
Draft day also looms large as the Cowboys are sitting on the #22 and #28 picks and most are thinking they will be adding a running back and wide receiver from those picks. A few have also hinted that owner Jerry Jones might gamble and trade up to get Arkansas running back Darren McFadden but it does not sound very likely. Whatever the Cowboys do on draft day will greatly affect the fantasy values of all these offensive weapons.
Marion Barber III and the Cowboys are stuck in negotiations for a long term contract. Ironically Drew Rosenhaus is Barber’s agent. The Cowboys are offering around 30 million in a long term deal but Barber is looking for between 40-60 million in a long term deal.
The Cowboys had a good draft despite not getting one of those talented receivers still on the board in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as receivers were not very popular this draft. I love the move they made to pick up Mike Jenkins. I like Felix Jones but I was surprised to see Mendenhall still available there. Jones is probably a better fit for Dallas as he will split time with Barber it is assumed, but it will be hard not to see what Mendenhall is doing in Pittsburgh these next few years.
