While the jury is still out on young quarterback Jay Cutler, based on many of the games I have watched of him last season, I think he is the real deal. Is he the next John Elway? Doubtful. Does he have the talent to become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL? I think very likely so in the next upcoming years. While his 3500 yard 20 touchdown season (88 QB rating) was impressive, he did make many mistakes due to inexperience and besides the talented Brandon Marshall (102-1325-7) Cutler does not have many consistent targets to throw to. I expect Cutler to continue to improve this season but I’d prefer to have him as my #2 quarterback until he shows me a little more conistency with his fantasy stats. I expect another good year from Marshall however I also expect someone to overpay for him (despite his freakish off season arm McInjury) and draft him too soon (probably the same guy who drafts TO every year in your draft). The Broncos running game is not quite so clear. Travis Henry is still the starter but had a very mediocre year battling injury and a drug seuspension that he appealed and won the appeal. His back up Selvin Young averaged over 1 more yard per carry. I expect Shanahan to stick with henry to start the year but to wheen more and more carries Young’s way as the year progresses. While I don’t expect anything great from the Broncos this season, I do expect some great things from their young core of offensive players in the years to come.
Update 6/2: Broncos have just cut Travis Henry making Selvin Young the new starter.
