NFL Conference Championships

This should be a great day of football coming up. Two outdoor stadiums, two bad weather forecasts and a lot of classic scenarios are showing up very quickly. My boy, Ryan Grant faces his old team that traded him to the Packers for only 10 pounds of cheese. He doesn’t seem angry from the interviews but I’ll bet he’s eager to show his old coaches how good he was and is. We have the Giants in classic Lambeau with classicly cold weather. We have the rising star Eli who everyone loves now that he has put together 3 good games in a row, and we have the ageless Brett Favre whos had a great year and would love to go out on top (although I doubt he’s retiring after this year). Favre the master of improv versus the feared Giants pass rush.

We also have the banged up Chargers coming to New England trying to pull off an upset that would shock the world. LT will play but Rivers and Gates are doubtful. So are the Chargers chances although I think the bad weather will help them stay in the game as Moss and Brady won’t be able to hook up as easily as in the past, and anything is possible if LT is healthy enough to throw the offense on his shoulders. I expect to good games Sunday.

Packers 28, Giants 14

Its impossible for me to pick against the Pack in Green Bay. I don’t the cold will favor the Pack that much over New York however New York still has those injured corners and despite the Redskins, and Cowboys not being able to take advantage. I think the Packers give the Giants a heavy dose of Grant before Favre picks them apart. Meantime, the press cover corners on Green Bay will make it a tough night for Eli and I think this game is not very close but the Giants have proven me wrong twice in a row so we shall see.

Patriots 31, Chargers 17

Tough to pick against an undefeated team coached by a football genius, with a very strong offense and a good defensive unit not hampered by many injuries at home in bad weather against a depleted, warm weather team coached by the one and only Norv Turner. I think the Chargers D and LT do all they can and I thik Rivers plays a little and Volek tries to help, but I can’t see any scenario where they can win this game. I also think Gates, the Chargers top aerial weapon, does not play this week although he mysteriously seemed healthy quick last week. I think its the end of the line for LT’s bunch and I think it will be a good game but not even close at the end.
