Wildcard Weekend Wrap Up

Well it definitely was a wild weekend although not as exciting for me as my picks fell to 1-3 to begin the playoffs. I must say I was most disappointed by Gibbs and the Redskins. To end the regular season the way they did and then to play as poorly as they did Saturday bothered me. I think perhaps it is time for Gibbs to step down as he couldn’t protect his quarterback at all Saturday, something that was a staple when Gibb’s was in his prime. I think he has lost touch with the current NFL which is totally understandable. Its a very complex league and many things have changed.

Tomlin is another coach I have some major issues with. I’m glad I am not a Steelers fan because they was plenty of very questionable playcalling coming from the Steeler sideline. Continuing to go for 2 from the 12 yard line ?! I’m real curious what sports talk radio says Monday morning in Pittsburgh. Big Ben was also terrible with many, many bad decisions yesterday.

Tom Coughlin redeemed himself this week making me and others look very dumb for coming after him so hard. Eli had a great game and the Giants won the turnover battle 3-0 making it an uphill battle for the Buc’s who are a team that is not built to come from behind. I have to give Coughlin a lot of credit as I thought he was toast. It will also be interesting in New York, as he probably will get a long contract extension now, good or bad for the fans, tough to say.

And finally Norv Turner’s team got out of that rut and took care of the Titans. It was looking pretty scary for a while but with all their talent and all the Titans injuries this was almost a slam dunk for the Chargers who nearly blew it. One bad note, Gates left with an injury. If they don’t have him next week good luck against the Colts in Indy.

As for the NFL Showdown The Current Standings:

All five entrants are actually tied at 3-1, so it looks like this is going to stay interesting down to the wire.

Congrats to Keith K. on the weekly contest. Josh Brown sealed the deal with his 50 yard field goal Saturday. Keith K. will have $5.00 coming to his paypal account

The new $5.00 weekly contest will have the same format:
